About Us
About Excel Christian School
The mission of Excel Christian School is to motivate students to find joy in the pursuit of spiritual, moral, relational, and academic excellence.
“Finally then, brethren, we request and exhort you in the Lord Jesus, that as you received from us instruction as to how you ought to walk and please God (just as you actually do walk), that you excel still more.”
1 Thessalonians 4:1 (NASB)
Excel Christian School, Inc. (Excel) is a non-profit, religious, faith-based ministry that promotes and provides for quality education, wherein students find joy in the pursuit of spiritual, moral, relational, and academic excellence, through the establishment and maintenance of private, non-denominational Christian schools and activities.
Supervision of Excel is provided by the Board of Directors–men and women of God, with a heart for Christian education, who prayerfully set policies for the school through the administration. The corporation bylaws are adhered to for legal and moral protection. Excel does not support or endorse the World Council of Churches, the National Council of Churches, or any other world, national or regional organization which gives Christian recognition to unbelievers or which advocates multi-faith union. Excel is founded upon the principles of the Word of God and espouses the historic Christian view of life as presented in the Bible.
Excel Christian School’s Strategic Plan
Through a comprehensive analysis of current structures, strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats in conjunction with our existing goals and in comparison with industry standards, Excel Christian School has formulated a strategic plan. This plan reflects our steadfast commitment to our core values and Christian Foundation and will serve as a guide for us to live out our mission. The plan begins in January 2026 of the 2025-2026 school year and will conclude at the end of the 2028-2029 school year. Click here for a downloadable version of the Strategic Plan.
Spiritual
- As a Christian institution, Excel is committed to teaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ and having the Bible be the foundation of all our conduct and world outlook. This vision will be incorporated into, and at the heart of, all our decision making.
- Through analysis and refinement of programs, all Bible curriculum and teachings are actively, appropriately and dynamically designed to enrich students in all grade levels. Faculty and Staff are prepared to instruct students as appropriate about Christianity and the Bible.
- We commit to providing opportunities for our entire community to engage with God through programs and events such as Baptisms, Chapel, See You at the Pole, Servant Warriors Around Town and others as applicable.
- By putting faith into action, Excel will provide intentional and age appropriate Mission Trips and Camp programs that are incorporated into the curriculum.
Moral
- Excel will provide consistent and clear rules, guidelines and procedures for academic conduct, relational conduct and disciplinary rules through the refinement, publication and application of these expectations. This applies to all members of the Excel community.
- Based on Christian values, Excel will continue to build and maintain a culture of prayer, scripture, support and valuing the whole person.
- All members of the community will encourage and continue to build quality communication and support between faculty, staff and families to best support each student in their academic and spiritual growth.
Relational
- In order to provide Christian education to as many children as possible, Excel will expand the program to include preschool aged children beginning in the 2026-2027 school year. Also to prepare our students as best as possible on their educational journey, the 6th grade will function as a hybrid between Elementary and Middle School, with the 6th grade remaining as part of the elementary school but with elements such as multiple teachers and a location in the middle school building that will enhance the official transition into 7th grade.
- Engage the family community through the refinement of our volunteer program to provide meaningful and timely volunteer opportunities that are critical to the functioning of the school.
- Through active marketing initiatives, increase enrollment and retention of students across all grade levels.
- Enhancing our financial agility through a comprehensive financial program including initiatives such as the Annual Fund, targeted fundraising events, scholarship contributions and major gifts. This will allow us to retain and attract excellent faculty and staff members, and invest in our facilities and infrastructure.
- Refine and enhance our extracurricular opportunities, specifically those beginning in Middle School and continuing through High School, to position us in the community as a well rounded educational institution.
- Continue to engage with peer schools and institutions to understand the independent school community and build relationships with feeder schools to increase enrollment and awareness of Excel.
academic
- Excel will continue to formalize and enrich our current curriculum programs such as Amplify, creating consistency of expectations and outcomes across all grades.
- Expand core resources for teachers and families that have students who need additional academic enrichment.
- Continue to enhance opportunities for professional development and enrichment, ensuring that our faculty and staff are excelling in their subject areas and beyond.
- Through nationally recognized benchmarks, such as Iowa and iReady testing, and through programs such as National Honors Society and AP classes, continue to track and communicate the academic rigor and success of the Excel program.
- Create a sustainable infrastructure to provide resources for current and future learning tools such as technology, ensuring our students are equipped with the knowledge of how to navigate the world and workforce.
This plan was a populated by data from parents, students, faculty, staff, administration members and members of the Board of Trustees. For questions or comments, email Samantha Tabarez, Director of Development & Marketing.
