Excel Christian School is unashamedly Christian in its purpose and focus, both in curriculum and operation. While belief in Jesus Christ by either the parents or the students is not a prerequisite to attendance, non-Christians should be aware that no compromises will be made in doctrine and expectations for student behavior. Although our philosophy is evangelistic, students whose behavior does not conform to our standards will have to be dismissed when deemed appropriate and in the best interests of the school.

Important Dates for the 2025-2026 School Year:

We are now scheduling tours and offering application information for the 2026-2027 school year. We are currently in our Open Enrollment campaign and all interested families are encouraged to fill contact us to learn more about Excel Christian. 

PRESCHOOL ADMISSION GUIDELINES

A student entering Excel’s Preschool must be 3 years of age by the start of the school year and must be potty trained.  Preschool is primarily for children 3-4 years to build a foundation for lifelong learning by developing crucial social, emotional, cognitive, physical and spiritual skills, preparing children for kindergarten.

Birth Certificate:

Parents must provide the school with a birth certificate or passport as proof of the student’s age. The student must be enrolled under the name that appears on this document.

Health Record:

A current immunization record must be obtained by your doctor or from the Washoe County Health Department. Immunizations must be up-to-date according to the Washoe County Health Department standards or obtain documented proof of scheduled appointments before the student may attend Excel. Proper documentation must be submitted for medical or religious exemption.

Physical Exam:

A student must have a well-child check within 30 days of attending Excel. The physical exam for Preschool attendance should include at minimum: date of birth, significant health history (major health problems, etc.), allergies, current medications and a list of over-the-counter medications that the child may have. The physical exam must be performed by a Physician or Registered Nurse.

PRE–K ADMISSION GUIDELINES

Excel’s Pre Kindergarten is primarily for children 4 years of age or those that are in transition and currently not eligible for kindergarten. Early-admission is determined on a case-by-case basis. If a child is ready both socially and emotionally, they may attend 30-60 days prior to their birthdate. Please note that for the 2025-2026 school year, Excel will accept children into kindergarten who turn 5 by September 30, 2025. Beginning with the 2026-2027 school year, Excel will accept children into kindergarten who turn 5 by September 1.

MIDDLE/HIGH SCHOOL ADMISSION GUIDELINES

In order to achieve our mission as a Christian school, we must define the type of student that we are most able to assist in achieving our educational goals and who will not hinder other students from achieving those goals; therefore, admission into the Middle/High School is not automatic.

An Excel student must . . .

1. exhibit good behavior patterns on a consistent basis
2. be a Christian, or else be committed to learning about a relationship with Christ
3. be motivated and academically able to handle the Excel curriculum
Students who test more than one grade level below their current grade will either not be admitted or else be admitted on a probationary status. Excel has the option to require private tutoring (at the parents’ expense) in order for the student to be enrolled.

While we welcome the opportunity to work with youth, we must ensure that parents receive what they are paying for—a quality education in a wholesome, safe environment.

Prospective students and their parents will meet with an administrator to determine whether Excel would be a suitable school for them, and to establish a rapport between the family and the school prior to the start of classes.
