What time does school start and end?
Elementary school starts at 8:45am and ends at 3:00pm.
Middle/High School starts at 8:15am and ends at 2:30pm.
Does Excel provide before and after school care?
Extended care is provided on campus for an additional cost by the Community Life Center of Outlook Christian Church. Before care begins at 7:00 a.m. and after care ends at 6:00 p.m.
Does Excel have chapel time?
Students have Bible Class/Christian Studies Monday through Thursday and chapel every Friday. There is a separate chapel time for elementary and middle/high school students.
What curriculum does Excel use?
We use a mix of various publishers. Our goal is to find the best curriculum for each subject and each grade. Teachers have input as to which curriculum fits their teaching style and the needs of their students.
Can homeschoolers be involved with Excel?
Many of our staff and students have homeschooled in the past, so we really appreciate the homeschooling movement. We invite middle/high school homeschoolers to enroll for any classes they would like to take. They can also be involved in our sports program.
Does Excel High School offer Honors/AP classes?
AP classes are dependent upon interest. High School students may take honors level courses in every subject, and some students take advantage of the Jump Start program with TMCC.
What testing does Excel provide?
Each year we give standardized tests to some or all grades, which includes the iReady and Iowa Assessments. For high school we also offer the PSAT test in the fall.
Does Excel wear uniforms?
Yes, we do. School uniforms promote community, team-spirit and attention to academics. They also create a sense of oneness and belonging and helps to raise students’ expectations of themselves. Wearing a uniform is a badge of school pride!
