College Counseling

Excel’s  student adviser will meet with all high school students to plan for college admission. Priority is given to juniors and seniors, but advisement begins their freshman year. Seniors at Excel take the On Course class, which prepares students for college and future careers.  Not only does the course help them navigate the murky waters of preparing for life after high school, it also provides information about visits to colleges (especially Christian colleges) and how to apply. Whenever possible, we participate in career fairs, career exploration seminars, and college blitzes.  All seniors are required to complete a senior project, highlighting their talents and abilities. The senior project requires a research paper, fieldwork and a presentation before judges.

In 2019, Eleven of Excel’s fifteen graduates earned over $226,000 in scholarships
